San Diego home sales rise 18.5% in March even as statewide market cools

"Home sales slowed in March as both buyers and sellers grew more concerned about the ongoing tariff situation and its potential impact on their personal finances," CAR President Heather Ozur said. Sales of existing, single-family homes in San Diego County rose 18.5% from February to March, but are down 4% year-over-year. Neighboring Imperial County saw a sales decline of 4.2% from last month, and dropped 17.9% year-over- year.
California housing crisis spurs lawmakers to propose new building bills

The housing crisis is leading lawmakers to write over 20 new bills, said Assemblymember Buffy Wicks, who heads the committee on permitting reform. The bills aim to speed up permitting, reduce fees, and streamline approval processes, including creating exceptions to environmental laws.
